WOW! I love this piece. You got great balance with the tree across the moon, and the colors at the bottom really anchor it. I just like everything about this one.
Simple and elegant. I love the garly outline of the tree, and the visual texture in the fabric that you have picked for it. I would have made that left branch a bit longer to add some weight to the left side of the tree.
I like the bright colors that you have picked for the ground. The quilting on top seems a bit distracting. Perhaps simpler quilting in this area would fit the feel of this quilt better.
Can't see the hand painting in the sky much. Looks mostly white in the photo, but I bet it looks great in person.
Some quilting in the sky would be nice. A few whisps of mist or clouds across the sun perhaps. The hand quilting around the edge is nice, but the quilt would be more unified if there was hand quilting elsewhere in the quilt as well.
There is something very appealing about an odd misshapen tree and this one is no exception. I like the way you pieced the ground - nice mix of fabrics/colors. I agree that a bit of wispy quilting in the sky area would be a nice addition. Another thought would be to use a bit of black tulle to fashion a little dark cloud passing in front of the moon.
I just looked at the earlier comments and noticed that one thought it was a moon and the other the sun - and I assumed it was a moon. I guess I think of autumn and a harvest moon.

I see the strengths of this piece as: great balance of elements together, wonderful textures with the different fabrics and good showing of depth with how the tree is place on the ground and the ground itself with the varying colors, heights and widths of the patchwork pieces in the hill. It feels spooky to me, like a walk through a cementary at night. The only things I can think to consider relate to the sky and the edging. The sky seems too solid looking...more color variation might look better and also some quilting lines. The stitching around the edges is somewhat distracting as it boxes the sky in which limits the expansive feeling. Also the stitching seems a bit folk artsy in contrast to the sophisticated tree.
I really like this piece, especially the color placement and the shape of the tree. I'll look forward to seeing more of your work!

I really like this piece, particularly the tree and the pieced landform. The threadpainting is a really nice touch as well. This is just my own personal feeling, but I would love to see the background in a really dark dark blue (but I just happen to love blue/orange combinations). Great job.

The fabrics you chose are perfect for this little quilt. The tree seems to be blown clean of its fall leaves all alying helter skelter on the ground below. The strip piecing gives wonderful texture to the ground and large 'harvest moon' is a perfect backdrop to the tree.

Wonderful composition! I like the variety of fabrics you used on the ground and the wispy grass you embroidered in. The hand quilting around the edge is a nice touch. I wouldn't change a thing.
