Its Not Easy Being Green

This is my entry for Challenge #6. It is quilt #2 in a series of leaf quilts. It measures 12 x 9 inches. The first one that I made was all in shades of blues and greens, and I wondered what it would look like with a pop of red. So this challenge was the perfect excuse to try. I am going to play around with this idea a little more in some series quilts.
Any comments are welcome. Thanks for looking, Elizabeth in NM

What a fun and different interpretation of not easy being green... I really like it alot! The red adds a powerful zing to the greens. Well done Elizabeth!

I love the abstact feel of this piece. I would say that I think as far as the colors go, there are three, not just two - i think the green and blues you chose at some point vary greatly... Happens with pinks and purples, they can be close where as you cant tell which it is, then it becomes clear. But I really love this piece - i would snatch that up for my collection - Has great eye movement, and balance... Bravo!

Great composition and I love how the quilting makes the leaves seem to vibrate. I couldn't resist bringing my greens into the blue either on this challenge! Green, blue-green and red is a fantastic color combination!

Hi Elizabeth, Great job! As I look at your quilt, I'm trying to figure out what makes it a good composition. I think there is just the right amount of unity through repetition of the leave motif, the rectangular wedges and patterned fabrics...but enough variety in the fabrics and shapes and the asymmetrical layout to make it very interesting.

It's beautifully constructed and the orangy-red is a perfect accent.
