Mixed Emotions

12" x 15.5" I just used strips, and snippets of fabric as an artist would use his brush, a stroke here, a spatter there, big brush here, tiny one there . I don't see any focus area here, but maybe somebody else does?

Cathy, the title says it all!
Although there is no focal point in your piece, it certainly shows movement.

Cathy, this is a very lively and interesting piece, and seems to have dozens of focal points - thus having the effect of no focus point. It is curious how the eye just continues to travel when looking at all the bits of excitement you put in the work. My eye does keep going back to the large blue rectangle in the middle, but it doesn't rest there. I like what you have done!

Hi Cathy...How have you attached your 'brush strokes and spatters'?
Are they fused? Netting on top? What a neat fun way to do abstract art. Very Jackson Pollack like. And I love your colors too!

Cherie, I laid black tulle over the whole top, put a LOT of pins and then quilted like crazy. Every place you see a smidge of color it is quilted and even on the black too

Plenty of movement and interest as mentioned above. Your piece reminds me of a casino carpet on New Years Eve, bright and festive!

Looks good! No focus,
reminds me of streamers and confetti.
Cool.

Hi Cathy,

Wow, you really have been busy! This piece is great; lots of visual interest and movement. I think you've now nailed both sides of the challenge!

Hi Cathy, What a fun, lively piece. The analogous color scheme blue to violet with the complementary yellow accents is perfect.
