Breezy Day

I've finished my Challenge 29 piece Breezy Day - I'm not quite sure if it actually fits the challenge or not.

I think it's an analogous color scheme - but I'm not quite sure if it actually fits - violet to red. It kind of falls into the movement category - but not really rhythm.

Anyway I continued in my branching out series - showing a very abstract tree with the abstract leaves tumbling in the breeze. Final size is 12 x 19.

Yes, it's analogous in muted shades of each color. I think there is a rhythm in the leaves being lifted up and falling down in the winds. Simple and beautiful. Good job.
P.S. Bet it's not as cold in Seattle as the plains states!

Hi Lisa... another successful tree, and have to say I can feel that wind blowing! Nicely done.
I am particularly drawn to your background. Does that represent the wet, gray patches of ground in Seattle at this time of year? When I get back to my sewing machine, I think I must do a pieced background.

Even your background seems to be leaning with the wind...terrific motion, and I feel a definite rhythm in the swaying branches. Good job Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Nice variation of your theme...this is abstract but still representational...good job. The background with those tints and tones of purple and red-violet and the off-kilter piecing is perfect. I see lots of rhymthm and movement in the repetitive shapes and direction of the elements. My eye goes to the high contrast tree branches which points to the blowing leaves across the piece. So, good rhymthm in my opinion.
You might be unsure about the analogous color scheme because it looks like there is one color missing in the run of colors. I see purple, red-violet and red-orange.....with true red missing, so the red-orange is acting more as an accent than part of an analogous scheme. This is emphasized even more since the red-orange is a pure hue (no black, gray or white) while the other colors are shades, tones and tints.
If you wanted to experiment, you could try adding some blackened red, like maroon/burgundy,in the branches and leaves.
Good job...it's alrways great to see your work.

Hi Lisa - Everything seems to work together in this piece - the angle of the tree limbs, the pieced background and the leaves. It all has a lovely sense of movement. I particularly like the spareness of this piece. Beautiful work!

Hi Lisa,
You can almost feel the wind on your face in this piece. Very good abstract of the tree and the leaves. I like the way the quilting brings out the movement of the wind. You interpreted this challenge with top honors!

Great motion/movement in the piece. I particularly like the pieced background in uneven blocks.

Lisa,
You definitely have achieved rhythm.
You make such great pieced backgrounds; well done.

You certainly achieved the challenge. In its simplicity, this piece says a lot.
