Saved by Cynthia Ann Morgan

I’m not going to finish on time and want to take a lot of time putting in some more details and on the quilting of my piece. It’s 37 x27” and based on a vintage Japanese woodcut of a myth depicting a royal child being saved by lightening.

I used the framing concept as incorporated in the scene. Analogous colors are Red through Yellow Orange with blue complement. I’ll post the final version, but it will be weeks! Comments welcome...please and thank you!

Thanks for a great challenge, Joni. This might be my favorite color concept yet.

Cynthia, this is WONDERFUL... hope we will see it finished.
When I was working on mine, I kept thinking of you and your woodcuts wondering if there would be something in your series for this challenge. It really works, doesn't it.Well done, and so glad we got to see it now.

Cynthia,
This is a great example of "framed" composition! I'm not surprised it isn't finished, there is so much detail in it, you have already spent a great deal of time on it. You must have quite a collection of woodblock prints to continue to find inspirations for your series. This one is especially lovely, with the movement in the lady's body, and the swirling of her kimono. Your color selection is excellent for this challenge and for the subject matter in your composition. What a joy it is to see your work.

Gorgeous Cynthia. The woodcuts are fantastic. I do hope you post a picture when it is finished. I agree with Carole, the movement is great.

Lovely piece and great use of color. I agree that according to KPM's book that I mentioned with my piece that it is a framed composition rather than a grid, but it wouldn't be as powerful and lovely in a grid format. I hope you'll post a finished picture of this piece later?

Another beautiful quilt Cynthia. I love the wood blocks and you do such a great job interpreting them. I can't wait to see how you quilt it
