Three Fishes

This week I've been camping in Asheville NC, and not able to make anything for this challenge. Upon returning today I realized that I have a quilt that I made a few years ago that fits this challenge, and hope you all will enjoy seeing it. I used fused applique and machine embroidered around each fish and around the seaweed. Fabrics from the William Morris collecton were used for the fish. It is really amazing to see the wonderful entries that have been posted for this challenge. Lots of talent in this group!

Love those fish and those eyes! The placement of the seaweed adds nice movement. The placement of the tails over the inside border keeps them from being locked inside.

The colors and fabrics are really wonderful. I like the composition, too, and the way the fish extend outside the border. Beautiful piece!

I like the use of the very traditional fabric for the scale of the fish. Works well and is unexpected. Three is the magic number for the fish.

Very nice composition! Your fabric selection adds interest to the fish and your seaweed suggests a slight current. I, too, like the fish extending beyond the borders. Good Job.

Who would have thought the William Morris prints would make such interesting fish? I like the simplicity of your composition.

Hi Joni--

Very nice piece.
I especially like the eyes and that they extend out into the border.
