Augie's mushrooms and There is a Fungus Among Us

My grandson Augies had been visiting when this challenge came up. He wanted to help with this challenge. Augie has a strong sense of color and design. He chose all of the colors for his quilt and also most of the colors for my contribution. We started first with my 'shroom village. He cut parts and definitely placed and help with the fusible fabric. I finished with details like grass (when he said Grandma, you need to put some grass on the bottom).

Augie completely designed his own quilt. the only contribution that I made, was rotary cutting and ironing. This is a special quilt for me. He is amazing. Augie (who lives far away from his California Grandma in New Hampshire) is a very grown up 6 years old.
Of ourse, grandma did do all of the free motion quilting on both.

what a treasure, who cares if you couldn't control the color scheme. Looks like another art quilter is born.

Absolutely precious, and so whimsical! Augie definitely has an artists eye, both design and color.
Love-love-love both of them!

And Grandma, you did need grass! It is just right. now I think you need to enter this into some show. It is quite special!

I think your grandson's own quilt is special, too! I hope he goes on to do something with his artistic ability.

Ps I remember my mother saying the poem or whatever that you got the title from. I shall have to go look it up.

What a treat to work with your grandson - he certainly does have a good eye for color. I love the look of your piece - very free-flowing and magical.

I love the brightness and playfulness of this piece. Your grandson definitely has an eye for color and design. I'd say you were lucky he was there to help you make such a wonderful piece.

The fungi is very whimsical. Your grandson's quilts is very cool - does he get to take it home with him?

The whimsy you have created with your color and fabric choices is absolutely charming. You have done a great job with the variety of sizes and shapes, and I do believe that your grandson was right. The grass was perfect for anchoring the whole piece.
