I visited three major cities this summer and all of them had high rise buildings. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time looking up. I used rectangles of all sizes to build my fantasy city.I like this idea, but I think the quantity of yellow rectangles is distracting. The fabrics are different, but they read the same from a distance. The finished size is 14" x 19".
Fabric paint or paint sticks may be the answer.

I like it and don't think the yellow is too distracting. The challenge was to use shapes and be abstract and I think you've done exactly that. No need for distance to show in an abstraction.
The yellow is great. Making them different in each building adds individuality. I think my favorite is the dark blue building in the foreground without windows - makes me wonder what is going on in there!
Judy, great use of rectangles for a sort of abstract/real image. I saw buildings before I even read your note. The yellow is perfect, the "lights are on." and the blue mystery building adds a bit of mystery!
This piece is very interesting to my eyes. I like the use of different values of fabric and the yellow really sets the piece off.
You have created a city from the first glimpse of the picture. You really don't need to change the yellow windows, in my opinion, because the variety in yellows as well as in shapes is enough to distinguish each building. My preference on this would be to have the sky pieces be all the same, but that is such a minor thing....I really like this piece! Good job!
The yellow is perfect. It keeps my eye moving to see whats next. Love the mysterybuilding

I like the yellow, also if it seems to me to ovverride the buildings walls.
May be you could use these large yellow windows to draw some figures and show what's going on inside the apartaments :)
This is a fun piece. The yellow makes it feel happy and sunny. I can imagine myself looking out a window way above the ground and seeing this scene. Personally I think a little less yellow (smaller or fewer windows?) would be better, so that the variety of different building textures could stand out more.
Judy, wonderful work. YOu and I were on the same path for this challenge. The bright yellow in the windows reminds me of the sun setting and how it glows on the windows of the high rises. Great use of rectangles.
You've captured the feeling of viewing the 'big city' through a window perfectly. I wouldn't change a thing

Have you quilted this piece yet? The satin stitching is perfect for piecing the buildings.
I really like the way you used the rectagles for the windows and placed them in a very interesting manner. Nice work. I also like that the binding looks like a totally different fabric than any other used in the quilt.
I, too , like the yellow espcially since it's different in each building. Very nice quilt with good dimension. I'm grateful I don't have to work in the blue building!

This is a great piece, Judy... I think it has all been said. the variation in the yellows is what seems to make this piece. the dark blue adds mystery particularly since the sky is still so light blue [re: time of day].
