Birthday Butterfly

Size: 9" X 10" stretched over wooden frame

Painting "Fete Famillale- The Birthday Party" by John Singer Sargent www.johnsingersargent.org

This is an owl butterfly using fusible applique with the colors in this painting. Inktense pencils were used on the lower right and were much more vibrant than expected. I loved looking at paintings with "color" as my reference.

Thank you for this interesting challenge. Comments are welcome.

Your colors play together very nicely. I like the asymetrical effect of the background pieces which really set the butterfuly off dramatically. The circles on the butterflies wings appear dimensional. Nice work.

I, too, like the asymmetrical background. Good use of metallic thread for effect. Very nice piece and great job on your use of the colors in the painting.

Very nice use of the colors from painting to fabric. I like the effects of the tread stitching around the wings. Nice...

HI

Your colors look to be right on. Don't think they could get any closer.

Good job.
