Here is my finished challenge. I wanted to use only fabric etc that I had on hand, so chose to use some of my LWI hand-dyed fabric, in this case cotton Damask. The background is LWI-dyed muslin. I had hoped to use the shading of the fabric as the shading on the grapes but it wasn't quite enough, so I added a bit of coloured pencil I love the effect of LWI on the cotton Damask. The weave gives the finished result a kind of "glow" that you don't get with any other fabric. The weave also presents special problems when using a raw-edge applique. Since I was limited to what I had on hand, the colours could have been better, but overall, I think they work quite well.

Beautiful Pat, and really hits the challenge right on. Great work.
Excellent use of tone and beautifully executed.
Hi Pat,Your fabrics just glow...really pretty. I wonder what it would look like rotated so the cluster of grapes is laying on a surface instead of floating in the air? Also, the grapes are so perfect...what if there were a few unruly ones that escaped?

This quite beautiful, Pat. I love your choice of colors. I am always fond of a red-orange-purple analogous color scheme. The way you have arranged the bright yellow orange moving into the deeper reds and violets really does create a lovely light source and a glow. from the lightest of the grapes. The highlights on the grapes are skillfully done.
I think the color choices are great and the light to shadow ratio works for the challenge. The fabric just glows.
Pat, Cotton and muslin - great idea. Using these fabrics adds the depth, character and the color flows. Highlighting is great, if this is raw edge , it is perfect.

I love your grapes and use of color from dark to light on both the fruit and leaves. They do seem to be hanging in mid-air, though, and I'm wondering if you added another leaf over the stem to make it look attached to the top and a few grapes fallen below to anchor it? Or maybe cropping it similar to the close-up version below?
