Pod, Again

This is called "Pod, Again" because I find myself drawn to creating pods over and over. Pea pods lend themselves easily to texture. The pod itself is rough; I've used both sides of a heavy upholstery fabric here. The peas are also decorator fabric - a bit lighter this time - and I also used both sides. The circle quilting pattern gave the piece the tiny little boost it needed. Over all it measures 6" x 8", but will be matted to 4.5" x 6.5"

What a fun little piece Ann. The textures are terrific.
I just have one question...if it measures 6x8 now, how will you add a mat and have it only 4.5x6.5 without losing a good deal of the design?

I penciled in the 4.5" x 6.5" so that my work wouldn't go past that point. The tips of the pod sit perfectly into the corners, as does the pea in the lower left.

Love the background texture and the fact that you are working in a series...Peapods are really fun. A friend of mine has done a whole series on peas and beans!

You packed a lot of texture into this little piece! Love the use of upholstery fabric, there are so many great textures in that type of material. Your peas in the pod really do look as if they are sitting just inside the pod. The background texture really compliments your subject. Nicely done!

Wonderful colors for your pod and contents. Love the background quilting.

It seems we've both gone to upholstery fabric and using front and back sides! I do wonder about matting it so close to the tips of the pod; maybe you should go just a bit bigger so the background shows all around. The texture is great.

Your pea fabrics add such great contrast in both color and visual texture. The background quilting also looks like peas. This is a fun piece. Pam Clark

I like that fact that you've used two sides of the same fabric. Its interesting to see the effects. Also, I agree the background quilting adds a alot of texture and helps the peapod 'pop'.
