Iris

The iris of the eye is named for the Greek goddess Iris who was goddess of the rainbow, so I chose to incorporate the whole of the rainbow as the color of this eye.

This was a fun challenge.  I'm most pleased that I was able to pull all the colors from my scrap bin -- except for the rainbow stripe and black & white background fabrics.

The finished piece is 15" square.  Comments/critiques are welcomed.

This is a very striking and vibrant piece. The combination of the rainbow colors and the black and white is very effective, and fun to look at!

Love the colors of the eye and borders against the black and white border. Great job!

I loved how you pieced the color wheel colors and formed them into an eye. I love how your border fabric helps re-emphasize your round shape in the center. It's very contemporary, but a very wonderful little quilt. Pam Clark

This is a very intriguing piece which draws the viewer in. All of that color is just popped by the use of the black and white. There is a lot of movement in the eye with the radiating color wheel. This is certainly a very vibrant piece of art. Job well done!

This is a piece that will never just fade into the background, not with all that color and bold black and white! A great job!

I LOVE the rainbow colors and black and white. It looks like an eye, but is sort of abstract at the same time.
