Road Trip!

"R" is For Road Trip!
This is a collage of several small postcard-style quilts that show a road trip through the Southwest. The background is a city skyline while the border represents the wide open road. Text includes not only the free-form cut letters, but  also the background map behind the two figures. My quilt measures 22" x 21".

Great quilt! (looks like it could also be "R is for Route 66), too!

Ann,
Your quilt is fun, fun, fun! I love all the "photo" images and bright colors. Is this memories of a real trip or an imagined one?

This looks like a page from a scrap book. The scenes in the "photos" are quite a contrast to the city skyline background, a sense of getting away from it all, very nice.

The trip was real. We moved from Texas to CA in the early 60's and drove along a large portion of Route 66. While we didn't pull an Airstream, we did have a U-Haul full of all the family's worldly possessions. It was a big adventure to my brothers and me, and a life-changing transition for my parents.
