Challenge 13 - done!

Whew! I can't believe I made it. There were several times when I just wanted to give up and throw it in the trash. If "fast" is the operative word here, then I will have to learn to simplify.
I have always loved going downtown and walking among the skyscrapers. When you look to the sky, the shapes are amazing! I discovered this view standing at my own front door. I have so many trees around my house that this is one of the few places I can stand and actually see the sky.
I learned a lot here. One is that you don't need to recreate each and every piece. The other is the quality of the thread you are using is very important when doing a lot of weird piecing.
Enjoy!

  2. Hi Karen - I'm glad you didn't give up on this work. You've definitely succeeded in creating a sense of depth with the shadow from the left building as well as your nice use of line. The colors meld together well too. It just all works together really well.

  4. Karen, I too am pleased that you persisted with this quilt. Very good perspective, the wall on the left draws my eyes upwards. I feel almost giddy, as if i am bending my head back to look at the sky. Well done.

  12. Hi Karen,
You pieced this? Great job on both aspects of the challenge! Perfect fabric choices, too. (where did you find that redwood fabric?)

Looking forward to seeing more of your work,
    Cynthia

  13. Thank you all for your wonderful comments. Just the encouragement I needed. Yes it was pieced - templates for every one. The reflection on the glass was a chalk pencil at the very last minute.

I look forward to the next one!
