Here is the image of my first quilt as part of the FFFC group. It is called "Inside Out" and it is a depiction of our back patio that stretches from the rear wall of our house to a natural sandstone cliff where we have planted a small flower garden. We use it as an extension of our living quarters for at least seven months of the year.
I had to squeeze the construction of this piece into the middle of a very busy week. There are certainly things I would do differently if I had more time!
Hi Kathy - what a lovely place to live. I think you've depicted very well what you wanted us to see. The piece has a nice sense of depth. There is something about the work that is very serene and appealing. I truly love the potted plant - great use of fabric.

Kathy, i would like to spend some time on your back patio. As Roberta said it does have a peaceful quality about it and there is a feeling as if the land drops away from your patio.
ReplyDeleteI hope i'm making sense.
Anna, You are certainly making sense as that is exactly what happens! The dilemma in creating this particular view is that it is a surreal landscape and one that does not feel quite real even in person (which is one of the reasons I love it).
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment!
Kathy
Kathy... a job well done.
ReplyDeleteI 'feel' the depth looking toward the mountains, makes me want to peek over and see what is below.
Congrats!

Makes me feel as though you're going right off the edge - is that the way it is? Lovely spot.
ReplyDeleteGosh! I want to live there! I love the feeling you've conveyed of being drawn into the vastness and as one with nature. Ahhh...peaceful!

Kathy,
ReplyDeleteGreat job. I really like the detailing on the paving and the plants in the planters.

Hi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteGood job on the perspective and feeling of depth, especially with the stairs and planters and tile. Love the fabric choices for the plants and how you used the fabric itself to give detail and depth.
I bet you get some nice sunsets (or sunrises)from this patio.
Glad you could join us! I look forward to seeing more of your work.
