Dreamscape - Moonrise

With the full moon earlier this week, it seemed appropriate to use the moon for this challenge.
The moon is large in proportion, it's my attempt to emphasise how the unearthly beauty of the moon affects me.
The colours rather unrealistic, but it is my dreamscape.
Any comments welcome.

  1. This is really dramatic! Sometimes the rising moon feels almost that big. I love the colors and the way the moonlight plays on the ground. The tiny buildings seem huddled together. This is a nicely done piece and a really good response to this challenge.

  2. Anna,
I love the way you met this challenge. The colors are great and I think sometimes the moon really does feel that big when it is full. I can't help wishing you hadn't cut off the top edge of the orb but that may just be me.

  3. Funny, I like that you cut off the top of the moon. By doing so, it emphasizes its size of it even more. Your use of color is great - the bit of yellow on the right goes a long way towards creating the glow and luminousity cast by the moon.

  4. Hi Anna - I think your dreamscape is very successful in meeting the challenge and in being a very eye-catching piece. I particularly like the simplicity - not a lot of detail to draw attention from the moon. Like Ann I appreciate the light areas on the ground as well as on the left side of the moon.

My husband just walked by and saw your quilt on my screen and added another comment for you - "Wow, that is neat!"

  6. You have really nailed this challenge. This reminds me so much of the harvest moons that we have, they fairly hang on the horizon, great colors, the trees have such depth...love it.

  7. Wonderful! It reminded me too, of a harvest moon, which rises outside my patio and sometimes looks that big!

Love the shading and moonglow! You got it!

  8. What else is to be said!! A very eye-catching piece. I not only appreciate your harvest moon... hanging like a huge balloon in the sky, but your trees..... they are awesome. I have had to look at this piece several times before I could comment. It is really well done and capures the intent of this challenge.
    Well done!!

  9. Thanks for stopping by and leaving comments. I do my art work mainly in isolation in Australia, so it is good to get some feedback on my work.
Carole, those trees are made from fabric featuring broccoli; so despite threadpainting and shading with crayons, i still think of broccoli everytime i look at this piece.

  11. This piece is wild! It is perfect in every way! I have seen the moon bigger than life in the desert, so I can appreciate the supposed exaggeration. Love it!
