My neutrals are black, white and off white with an accent of gold. I paperpieced the 6 twisted log cabin diamonds using several varied types of fabric for texture and depth. I quilted the background and then appliqued the starfish by hand, then quilted around the black to accentuate the design.
As is often the case, my husband named it for me!

Wow Cherie, this blows me away. You effectively created a 3-D star that has a lot of movement. Wonderful job and as Joni said, well worth the wait!

ReplyDeleteFantastic! You're drawn right into the starfish's mouth. Wonderful choice of colors and quilting to enhance it. The background seems to be moving water or rippled sand. Thanks for sharing this piece.

I don't see a starfish as much as I see three fish tails shaped into a star. I like the textured black and white fabrics. Greate use of color.

Wow!! I am just catching up and this is spectacular@ Sorry, but I don't see the star fish. I see the gold as gingko leaves with the black and white like a protective cloak wrapping them.
