Quilting is one of my weak areas so I chose a subject where I could experiment with a variety of threads and practice bobbin drawing and free motion quilting. Colors aren't as vibrant in the photo. Will try to get a better photo tomorrow when the light might be better.
Comments and critiques are welcome.
Thanks,
Pam
It's the fourth of July all over again! Fun bobbin quilting. It makes quite a statement.

This is a very effective piece. The fireworks really glow in the sky. It makes me think of the "Grand Finale" on the 4th of July. "Celebration" is an apt title because it emanates happiness. I'm quite impressed with your bobbin work. Well done!
ReplyDeleteJust a few screaming nellies and you'd be set. The last embers of the fireworks before. Great idea for practicing bobbin work.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, this piece glows with light against the dark background...very effective and nicely done! I especially like how you made the centers lighter so they glow more.

This hits the challenge ... and I like your threadwork. Impressive..I thought there were beads on it!
ReplyDeleteWell done.
Hi Pam,
ReplyDeleteNice composition.
Fireworks are on my "must try someday" list.
Besides seeming to glow against the black fabric, your threads catch the light. What thread(s) did you use?

Fireworks are not easy to depict in fabric and thread, but you have succeeded nicely!

I used Candlelight by YLI and Sulky Sliver and Metallic.
