pulsating colors
prisms of light float gently
a rainbow of life

I used STITCH to define the body and for some of the tentacles. Bridal tulle is edge stitched for additional color and the body has an extra layer of batting for dimension.
Comments appreciated and welcomed.
Thanks Kathy for a fun, thought provoking challenge.

Pam,
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful piece and a great haiku! I love the colors, your use of stitch and especially the tulle for texture and accent. Having the jelly fish off center really adds interest and all those colorful tentacles draw the viewer into the scene.

Pam, your haiku is great and your piece very aptly illustrates it with your use of a rainbow of color. I especially like the the affect of motion implied by the stitched lines and the novelty fibers. The radiating lines in the center add to floating feel and your use of tulle give great texture.
ReplyDeleteYour haiku is wonderful and the jellyfish so colorful. The yarn and stitch were well used. What if you more heavily quilted the blue background? Either way it is great.
ReplyDeleteYou have captured the light that seems to glow from the jellyfish. The tulle gives it such a lovely delicate appearance. Nice job!

The tulle really adds to the 'jelly' part of the jelly-fish. Your threads seem to glow in an almost florescence... like a flashlight going into the water. Very mysterious feel.
ReplyDeleteGood job!
Hi Pam, I love the way your colorful jelly fish floats across your piece. The variegated yarn makes perfect tentacles giving a "sunlight through the water" kind of look. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, I see that your piece truly does reflect the Haiku. The rainbow of colors is well illustrated and, as others have said, the jellyfish floats across the surface. Great challenge response!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, gorgeous colors...great job

This is wonderful! I love the jellyfish body which does appear to glow and the tulle was a great idea, the tentacles are also great and I agree they seem to be floating through the "water". I also really like the blue you used, the way it is darker near the edges and lighter around the jellyfish adds to the glowing appearance.
ReplyDeleteGREAT job!
forgot to say that the Haiku is wonderful also and really matches the quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is bright an fun. I think the yarn tentacles give so much movement to the piece. Great inspiration to use tulle as the jelly. Good work

The tulle around the body is very effective. I like how you used both the yarns and decorative stitches for the tentacles. A very bright and colorful piece. I also like the way in which you depicted the body of the jellyfish with all the wonderful stitching and the use of the varigated thread.
