I saw a picture of a
photoshopped rainbow owl and immediatly wanted to make it. This seemed like the
perfect time to try it. The background is hand dyed fabric. The owl has knitted
sweater parts, yarn, lace, and burned sheer organza . This was a fun challange -
thank you. Oh, it measures 24x29"

Your background fabric is the perfect beginning for this piece with all the texture which it conveys. The owl makes me want to reach out and touch all the different textures. To me this answers the challenge very well!
ReplyDeleteI love how you mixed the fabrics...and used repurposed materials! You have captured the feathery quality wonderfully! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWonderful fiber choices for the body of the owl, and the fabric on the branch is perfect. This is a great piece!
ReplyDeleteUsing a sweater was a stroke of genius, and I really like the wonky shape of your background. What did you use for the branch?
ReplyDeleteAbout a year or so ago I bougt a horrible texture piece of fabric from Wallmart. The print was great for a tree I thought. It worked very well for this branch. You never know!

Good use of yarn for the texture, with an interesting background and shape.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use for the eyes? This is just an adorable piece. My two-year old grandson would love it with all the colors and the textures. Pam Clark
ReplyDeletePat, your piece is very clever. The background fabric actually looks like wool or a felted material. Is it? The owl itself has very interesting texture and the face ~~ owl-like personality.
