This is my Purple Haze quilt based on the song by Jimmy Hendrix. The song is about how he is in a purple haze because of a woman - so i did the woman in purples, and the background is a really dark purple. My accent is my fave shade of blue - to outline her curves. Machine quilted. Critique welcome!

Hello Tina - Excellent interpretation of our challenge! Your use of the darker purple for the spine and the lighter purple for curves really works. And your quilting emphasizes those elements as well. Your use of the blue jazzes up the piece. Super.

Tina, First of all...good job getting that done so fast...when you're in the zone, you're in the zone! I think the fabric choice for the light purple highlights is just the right brightness! And the simplicity of the piece is what makes it really perfect! I love purple too. Very nice! Valerie
ReplyDeleteTina, I love this and wouldn't change a thing! Cathy
ReplyDeleteSo simple yet so elegant. It's great.

Great job Tina. It is so simple and yet says so much. The shading, the outline,....it's all just right! You were obviously NOT in a haze when you executed this piece!
ReplyDeleteTina Marie, what an artist you are!!
ReplyDeleteThe execution of this exquisite piece is truly a masterpiece. Your interpretation of our theme is a good example for all of us.
Well done [ and I am glad she was first into the gallery so that every time I go to the photos she is the one I see]

Great job! It has just the right amount of highlights and shadows to suggest form. At first glance at the thumbnail in the photo album I thought it was another of Linda's vases. On the regular size image I have no trouble telling it is a woman. But your cropping is perfect (not something every Photoshop user gets right when cropping the human body).

Tina, I'll repeat what the others have said...great job overall and specifically with the shading and shape (very curvy!) Is that blue fiber you've couched on for the outline?
ReplyDeleteOne comment about the quilting lines: Did you consider something other than curvy lines in the background quilting? Sometimes a contrast in the background quilting line (straight or angular vs curved)can make the it pop.
I'm glad you're participating in our challenges again...we missed you!
