I made two. They are very small so I will be sending them to Ami Simms soon for her Alzheimer's auctions.
The background was painted using watered down acrylic paints.
Machine quilted around the painted leaves and then silk flowers were sewn on.
A very fast and easy project

I like the background. The quilting really helps define the leaves. Makes me think of leaves and flowers floating on water.

Hi Betty - your two small quilts are charming. Your hand-painted backgrounds add a nice depth to the pieces. I'm sure they will be welcome additions to the Alzheimer's auctions. Great idea.

Hi Betty, Aren't you ambitious to complete 2 pieces! The backgrounds are lovely and very effective for showing layers of depth. I like how the flowers are grouped, too...not too uniform, more like how they grow. The only suggestion I have to consider is: the leaves are uniform in color and size. It might add some interest to add shading and veins with fabric pens or paint.
ReplyDeleteGood job!
