Square Dance for Fun and Friendship
This is a couple twirling during a square dance. It was all hand appliqued.
Lot's of movement Betty. The lace on the skirt really adds to the element of movement. I'd be very interested to know what you used for their hair, very realistic.
Hi Betty - You've got lots of indications of movement - the skirt and hair being the most obvious but the position of the feet and the man's string tie contribute more movement. The fabric you used for the dance floor also adds a feeling of swirling.
A thought - What if you added a bit of darker thread or used a dark Pigma pen to go around the skin and the the shirts to pop them out a bit more from the background?
Hi Betty, This is great; good sense of movement and a really fun piece. I really like the use of fabrics that add to the "country" feel as well. Brenda
Swing your partner!!! My late sister and her husband were big on square dancing, in fact he still calls periodically. A great job... took me back to happy times. Carole
Hi Betty, this is a fun piece and now I know where your handle - squarequilter - came from! Perfect use of prints and you really captured the movement aspect. Good job! Cynthia

Hi Roberta--
ReplyDeleteI took your advise and outlined the skin. It did blend into the background more than I liked.

Fantastic use of lace to add to the movement of the skirt. Good fabric choices.
