When I saw the rules last night I thought "This is impossible". When I woke up this morning I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
The trees are thread painted with beads for ice pellets. The snow is batting.
The man out for a walk was fused on and the sleet pelting the walker is the quilting done with silver thread.
It is 10-1/4" x 14-1/4".
Brrrr.. Betty,
ReplyDeleteYou sure have captured the feeling of ice cold weather! I like your slippery sidewalk and can almost feel the rain. Great job on this challenge. Joni
Love the cold feeling huddled in an icy rain and the man seeming to walk out of the picture to try to get away from it all!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I'm so glad to be inside where it's warm, because that person in the quilt looks soooo cold!
ReplyDeleteI quite like how the bottom is uneven...like drifted snow. and yes, I think the man looks very cold. I want him to have something to hang onto because he may slip on the ice any minute! (just my imagination running away!)
ReplyDeleteI am particularly interested in how having the man there, all hunched up, turns this from a "romantic winter scene" into something that causes the viewer to react with the image. well done!

Betty,
ReplyDeleteyou have depicted ice very effectively. I can relate to the cold the figure is experiencing.
Well done

Hi Betty - You've really succeeded at this challenge! Your scene makes me cold just to look at it. The bare trees, the hunched shoulders, the driving snow and the slick sidewalk communicate the theme so well. Great job.
ReplyDeleteRoberta
This piece tugs at my heart, alone and cold! You've really captured the emotions of aloneness in this piece, and it can be very cold.
ReplyDeleteYou have really capture 'Ice'.
Hi there Betty speed demon, Excellent job! I especially like the effect of the trees obscured by the snow and body position (the legs and feet are particularly well done)
ReplyDeleteThe quilting lines are very effective too
Cynthia
This is great! I just love that figure huddled, trying to be protected from the 'icy' elements. Can relate, only too well, it is how I always feel in winter.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and very well done.
Carole
Hi Betty,
ReplyDeleteYou have done an incredible job capturing all the "elements": snow, ice, and even wind. Great job.
Brenda
I love the trees - I love how you finished the bottom kind of dropping off. OK for the life of me I can't figure out the bottom edge.
ReplyDeleteIt is cold - the only thing that might have been interesting is to do the side walk in perspective of some sort. Maybe a little thicker at one end to narrower. But it does work as it is.
