'Fire and Ice'
I didn't know if I'd meet the deadline, but I made it.
Here is my interpretation of Fire and Ice.
I used tinsel and angelina on the 'iceberg', lots of metallic threads. Unfortunately the copper thread on the fire doesn't show up well in the photos.
This is a more abstract piece different from my norm. I had fun working with it and look forward to your comments.
I stretched it on a wooden frame and am pleased with my first attempt using a frame.
Now I must spend some time and peruse all the entries in this challenge.

Rhoda,
ReplyDeleteYour Fire and Ice composition is fabulous! It has a very strong visual impact and I love the way the two elements play on each other! It is interesting how the tounges of fire and drops of ice are so similar.
Hi Rhoda, I really like your abstract piece...it's an interesting composition with lots of variety in color, value and textures. The binding, especially the red at the top is a bit of a distraction to me...thinner might looker better?
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Rhoda... your piece is very eye-catching.... the tongues of fire and ice are almost sensuous... was that your intent? Love the color play and the sparkle.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cynthia, the heavy red binding at the top [is it binding?] is distracting. I look at the second picture, cropped and it is easier to look at..IMHO that is.
Just a thought, but I also am not sure what you mean Re: stretching it on a frame....
Carole
I agree with both you and Cynthia re the red border...and I appreciate the comments.
ReplyDeleteI stretched the piece on a wooden stretcher frame, then stapled it in place.
hadn't thought of 'sensuous' but your are right it does evoke that emotion :)
Hi Rhoda,
ReplyDeleteThis is great! To me it looks like some fantastic mythical creature flying through the wintery sky. Really good job creating the icy sections.

Rhoda,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 'abstract'
it is intiguing i love that swirl of fire and your use of fabrics is excellent.
Hi Rhoda - This work is really intriguing to me. It almost seems three-dimensional. I particularly like the little tongues of flame along with the water droplets. The piece has a lot of movement with the swirl and the flames. You've accomplished a lot with this work.
ReplyDeleteRoberta
I totally see a fire breathing dragons eye crying. Great movement.
