8.5 " X 12"
I used the rhythm and repetition imposed by a grid in an attempt to lead the eye; hopefully to the small red rectangle. I also restricted the field to a neutral off white.
I kept thinking of a Japanese flag but was trying to be a bit more subtle.
Penny, I really like this with the grid of monochromatic pieces.... then the contrast jumps out! Tradition with a twist!
ReplyDeleteI like the title!! Did you actually have that piece of music playing while you did this? haha
ReplyDeleteI like your neutral grid and the color 'focus' is just what the challenge called for.
I like it!

Hi Penny!
ReplyDeleteI like your thought of doing this challenge through a grid interpretation.
What I do notice is that the larger and longer green and beige rectangles (on the right) seem to compete with the smaller red rectagle for my attention. Since your background is so different from the red, I don't think any leading of the eye is needed with the green color elements of the piece...but that is only an opinion.
You definitely accomplished drawing the eye to the red rectangle Penny. The peace and calm of this quilt reminds me of a Haiku...very nice :-)

Hi Penny,
ReplyDeleteI really like your interpretation of the challenge. I like the green in there; I think the red alone might have been too stark against the subtle background. I also like how the varied neutrals provide texture in the background. Very nice.

I like that this is a traditional quilt with a twist. Very eloquent.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Just enough color to make it interesting.

Hi Penny,
ReplyDeleteI like this alot...the neutral background has enough interest to balance the focal area well. A simple design but effective...good job!
