"Pueblos Bonitos"
I have chosen to do 'shapes' for my series. A couple of years ago Idid a series of postcards using shapes as the theme. I've always intended to do a real series...now is my chance :)
For this challenge I am using squares..."Pueblos Bonitos"...
My complimentary colors are orange-yellow and blue (as on JoenWolfrom's color cards #11 and #23).
My quilt is mainly horizontal, with a little diagonal thrown in. The background is organza fused over hand dyed cotton then randomly cut and pieced back together with two different colored hand dyed strips inserted. The squares are cotton with organza and chiffon overlays. Variegated rayon threads.
Comments welcomed :) as always
Cherie
Cherie, you have really captured this months challenge. I look forward to more of your shape quilts. good job.
ReplyDeleteterrific answer to this challenge Cherie. I love how you used the different fabrics for that transparent look and I love the motion in this.
ReplyDeleteI like the feel of this piece and it really takes you out west where the pueblos are.

Cherie,
ReplyDeleteYou little squares just shimmer in the sunlight! I love the backgound of this piece too! Nice job!
Hi Cherie - This piece is so attractive to me - the simplicity, the use of color and transparency, the curvy lines. And the name is wonderfully descriptive. There is not a thing I would change.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful. I love the contrast of your wavy lines to the squares.
ReplyDeleteThis piece is so well balanced. It looks effortless, but I know it isn't easy to put each square in exactly the right place. I love this piece!
ReplyDeleteCherie,
ReplyDeletewhat can i say? this is wonderful.
I love your use of sheer fabrics
I echo the comments above. I love this piece. The quilting is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThe above says it all Cherie. What a 'comely' piece, so well executed. Thank you for sharing your technique. I love this style of quilting, one would think I would make it my own, but so far have to go more realistic. I love the colors, everything about it.
ReplyDeleteWell done and I am looking forward to more in this series.
Cherie,
ReplyDeleteI like the flow of this and the range of values. The lightest blue and orange-yellow give this more life. I love the ghost look of those overlays too.
Very well done - great movement - the fact you used more than the pure colors is quite dynamic.
ReplyDeleteHi Cherie, I like the shapes...even though they are all the same size, they don't look too uniform...there's actually alot of interest. I think it must be the variety of values, shades, tones, pure hues, tints as well as the transparent ghosting of the shapes. Very effective. Simple shapes and lines but striking and interesting! There a sense of quiet aliveness.
ReplyDeleteGreat job,
Cynthia
Hi Cherie,
ReplyDeleteI really like this piece. I think the uniform shapes and sizes give the work a really nice rhythm, while the sheers add a lot of interest. Of course I love the color scheme! Great job.
Brenda
