Cosmic Fire

This was inspired by the batik fabric background. I try to to use what I have on hand so it was copper Angelina and Misty Fuse. Also quilting and beading. There is so much inspiration out there. I find I am limited by my expertise in using some of the embelishments. Some things just didn't work! Thanks for the great challenge and a chance to try something new. Your comments helpful and welcome.

  1. Hi Elaine - Congratulations for trying some new things whether you liked how they worked or not.

I think your beading in this piece is a very nice addition. And your fire shape works well. One suggestion that comes to mind would be to echo the fire shape with some metallic thread. I think that would add more of a pop to the fire.

  2. Elaine,
Great job! I like what you have done as I am a great believer in using what is on hand--tends to make husbands happier. :) I, too, think that echoing the fire shape could add more interest.

  3. Hi Elaine, That background fabric is fabulous....could you emphasize some of the lines and shapes with some of the colors found in the fabric? I would use the same light/medium value for the background quilting so it still leaves the contrast of the dark embellishments.
Nice job! I look forward to seeing more of your work

  4. I'm a believer in using what is at hand. YOu did a nice job with the fibers and beads. I would like to see some added quilting either by hand or machine for emphasis on the background. Can't wait to see more from you.
