My California Poster is 18 x 24. I used fusing and just started with no particular plan in mind. I really love the art deco period with the truly graphic, clean, streamlined lines. I started with the pyramid and then added the palm tree and voila!!! it became a poster. I debated about putting Hollywood on the top but decided on California. The palm tree is black and gold fabrics with metallic top stitching. The subtle Golden Gate Bridge is there to state that California is NOT all Los Angeles and Hollywood.
I am looking forward to all of your pieces. Thank you for letting me host this time.
Critiques are very welcome

Definitely 'southern' California even with the GG bridge. I like your bold color choices and the what appear to be geometric steps. I'm wondering if a brighter green or other wild color would have made a difference in the palm tree since they are so muted compared to the rest of the piece?
ReplyDeleteFun poster! I love that deco style lettering, and the big sunburst.
ReplyDeleteOh...I love deco posters! This is sooo indicative of the deco era. Great piece

Carol - This looks so good! Like stepping back in time and looking at a preserved poster. With the Golden Gate Bridge in the back ground and the pyramid is center stage. Art Deco what a wonderful period in history.:)
ReplyDeleteYou have totally captured the feel of an art deco poster. The lettering, the geometric steps, the radiating lines...I expect to see Fred and Ginger waiting just offstage!
ReplyDeleteLovely piece.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting.

(This may be a duplicate. Something happened the first time and I don't know if it took or not.)
Thank you for hosting such a fun challenge. Nice piece.
ReplyDeleteLove the use of metallics in the piece and the red and black are classics that always work well in a piece. It really evokes the art deco theme. You have achieved great balance through the use of many elements and met the challenge wholeheartedly!
