Desert Sand Storm Coming

I finally am posting an offering in a timely fashion. This is a small quilt about 8 x 10, using hand-dyed background fabric and a commercial fabric for the threatening cloud (wave) of sand. It is fused and has some very light foil on the cloud. The sun has heavy gold quilting and then heavy gold foil to make you feel the heat.

This was really fun and interesting to do.

  1. What a wonderful piece Carol. The embellishments and colors really portray your idea, and yes you can feel the heat. The only thing I might suggest is more angles in the pyramids? just my thought :0

  3. Carol,

Your use of color really does depict the heat and dryness of the desert landscape. I like the absract feel of this piece which tells a story to me. The use of the foil in the sun's rays is very effective and the shape of the dust cloud adds so much visual interest. This is a lovely piece.

  5. Hi Carol, what unusual effects you got...it looks almost 3D. I've never seen foiling like that? How did you do it?
This really gives the feeling of oppressive dangerous heat. Great job!
