Chanterelles

I used a photograph of Chanterelles as a guide and free hand cut and stitched. It is 3 layers.. altho' the actual backing is batting, the muslin is in the center. I will be using this piece for gluing into my Fabric Journal.

I am showing it in its actual size and in a Tramp Frame.

    Blue and orange, a great color combination. This definitely feels like something from the Art Nouveau period. Love the idea of making it to fit in a journal. Great idea.

    This turned out simply great. I really like the fungi and the background which adds to the movement in the fungi. The frame is very fitting and doesn't distract at all from your nice piece.

    Janice asked how I shaded the mushrooms. Mostly with thread, some with a pigma pen and pastel dye sticks. This is NOT a photo.. the photo was used for guidance only.

    Love the color and the striations on the 'shrooms. I also like how you used the "splashes" of light color (is it white, or pale blue?) which move the eye around and also draws more attention to the chanterelles while connecting it to the background.

    The 'splashes' are actually a black and white.. I almost used that fabric for 'toadstools' but I wanted to get the color as well as the form in this challenge.

    I love the frame - did you make it yourself? I also like the colors very rich. Your asymmetrical borders are perfect for the piece.

    Great piece. I like the curves and the colors. Putting it in that frame really made it pop.
