Treetop Fantasy

Here's my little quilt (about 14 x 14") for Challenge 13. It's made with hand dyed fabrics and a few touches of commercial prints (dots...I just love them) using fused raw edge applique and lots of quilting in a leaf pattern. I had a bit of trouble with the perspective, but I think this is passable.

It's a treehouse in case it's not obvious to anyone but me!

Comments/suggestions/greetings welcome.

I love your treehouse, Cynthia. The perspective being off a bit doesn't detract from it's charm. I like how you've made the ladder come down and then disappear through the leaves. I don't quite get the things comming off to the sides. I think that's a rope and plank bridge on the right, but the top ropes aren't parallel like I would expect. I'm afraid I'm clueless what you have on the left. It's just the sort of place I'd like to visit for a week or so.

I clicked on photo so I could get up close and loved the free motion quilting of leaf shapes over the leaves. It looked like I was actually sitting in a tree surrounded by leaves. I personally never could live in a tree house as I am afraid of heights That's why I will stick to my sand.

Cynthia... what fun!! Can I come and play, too?
A playful piece, I like the color of 'summer' in the trees. And the black and white, isn't it a fun combination to work with!! Carole

great little hideaway in the trees! Again I love the quilting to suggest more leaves and all the ladders and such, I think what confuses the eye is that the flooring of the treehouse blends in so well on the left that it seems you need to jump over to that other ladder :-), but after enlarging the picture and looking closely I could see the floor and then it made more sense!

Hi Cynthia - What a delightful place. You've done a great job making a woodsy setting and the house itself looks welcoming. The lights in the window give a look of warmth. The leaf quilting is a nice addition. A fun piece!

A Tree House...I love it! There is actually a tree house in Del Mar where I live that is rented out during the racing season! It doesn't have all the lovely greenery surrounding it that yours does though.

Hi Cynthia,
Love the treehouse! I really like how the windows "glow". Great job.

Cynthia,

Wonderful piece! I do get the walkway into the woods. As my name means "forest wanderer" this just feels like home to me! I wish I could have this piece in my collection.

I definitely saw a tree house when I looked at it. Everyone should have a tree house for a hide-away.
I like it a lot.

Wonderful tree house quilt Cynthia! It looks just like the one in my back yard that we built for the grandkids...complete with rope bridge and balcony. You made the little hide-away look so inviting and cosy with the warm lighting coming through the windows. I love it! Joni
