The Start of An Upward Journey

You'll have to forgive me for this incomplete piece. I think that my brain has been fried. It's been over 100 degrees for the last 5 days and with no airconditioning; the nights have been so hot as well.
I'm uncertain whether the colours are analagous; I'm using blue, purple and pink. As to whether it depicts any movement whatsoever, please tell me what you think.
It still needs to be bound and quilted but i'm leaving that for cooler times. At present all i seem capable of doing is lying around like a dead duck.

"Different"

"Different" is the title of this piece and it starts a different series dealing with abstractions.
I tried to depict the emotion of "not quite fitting in" whatever the correct word is!
?Disconnectedness?Alienation. That feeling where you are trying to blend in with the crowd and don't really achieve it...you stand out like a "sore thumb"!
Handdyed muslin and silks. I chose lime green as my zinger.
Any comments/suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Anna K.

Dreamscape 3 - Uluru

This challenge was very challenging for me, despite being the hostess. I had lots of fun and learnt much; even though it may not be evident from the result.
Uluru is the aboriginal name for Ayer's Rock in Central Australia. A hot place, hence I chose orange as my colour.
Dingoes are associated with Uluru for many reasons...some of them malevolent. Hence the evil stare.
Any comments welcome,
Anna.

Dreamscape 2....City Limits

My series will be called Dreamscapes. My inspiration was the piece i did for challenge 15; Dreamscape...Moonrise.
I love the full moon and it affects me deeply.
Through this series i want to work through some personal feelings; and some weird dreams.
The piece is bound and quilted.
Any critiques/ suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks for looking.

Midnight Dreams of Summer Flowers

It's the last day of winter here and i am desperate for some colour. My real garden is just a pile of twigs poking out of the ground. So i imagined this piece and i hope that it fulfills the criteria of this challenge.

Background fabric dyed in attempt to represent the garden in the starlight.

Flowers appliqued with metallic thread and made up of scraps of dyed silk.

Flower in the upper left (representing night) consists of machine embroidered stars and free motion embroidery.

Anny comments welcome.

Just who am I ?

I've dreaded the idea of a self portrait; I'd rather remain invisible.
Here is my attempt at a self portrait...tongue in cheek; but not really.
I am such a novice at this; still have lots of techniques to try and master.
My favourite technique then is trying to make a quilt from my own hand-dyed fabrics..i can make the colors as wild as I like. Even though i wear black i love color.
Also incorporated Upside Down Applique which i am currently learning from Susan Brittingham.
Comments and critiques welcome.
Thanks,
Anna K.

Fire...Aftermath

Apologies for the poor quality of the photo.
I chose to do fire; it was above 100 degrees today, and this heat reminds me of bushfires.
I used my hand-dyed silks and cottons. Free motion quilting with lots of metallic thread.
If I had more time I would make the tree more substantial...as I am time poor this week, this version will have to do.
Any comments welcome,
Thanks,
Anna.

Dreamscape - Moonrise

With the full moon earlier this week, it seemed appropriate to use the moon for this challenge.
The moon is large in proportion, it's my attempt to emphasise how the unearthly beauty of the moon affects me.
The colours rather unrealistic, but it is my dreamscape.
Any comments welcome.

Through Hail and Ice

I tried to achieve movement through silence.

I drew a duck in flight then fused it in segments to a background which i painted with some metallic paint. I appliqued around the duck with satin stitch.

Free motion quilting with silver holographic thread was used as an embellishment.

Metallic paint for the feet and beak; with shading with fabric crayons to achieve greater definition of the duck and the movement of the wings.

I don't know whether i succeeded with the theme of movement.

I will appreciate any comments.

Stairs down to My Nightmares

I forgot the photo, sorry.
Anna Koziol

Stairs down to my Nightmare

I printed one of my photos to fabric then used fabric paint and 5 different shades of grey thread to provide extra details and depth.
The black fabric surrounding the stairs is fabric which i had previously discharge dyed. Grey fabric paint was used to provide interest.
Holographic threads in silver, black and red were used to add some lines for interest.
The quilt measures 12" x 12" and was bound with red cotton net.
Whilst i enjoyed the process i am unsure about the final result.
