Challenge 57

I was so excited to see the topic for this challenge. I love art deco and its cousin art nouveau. Thanks so much! I was determined to get something done this time, though!.

My project is not finished, but if I wait, I will have missed another deadline! The leaves and stems are simply fused to a background but the stems are "Mucha-like." I think I want to add some glitz embellishment to it, even if that may not fit the deco mode.

Common title--Late!

Haven't done too much in the studio lately, but I felt that something very simple would get me there and get a challenge done.

This is all thread and yarn on black felted wool, only 9 x 12". It will be donated to a local charity auction, and I am just glad to have actually finished a project!

Late and Still Uncertain!

This has been a great challenge, in an area I knew nothing about. There have been so many examples and so much to study about color fields and I still, like many others, don't feel I have a true understanding of color field. However, that also gives us the opportunity to interpret the challenge with our best guess!
I am so late and also so unfinished with this, but I'm hoping for a few helpful hints from you wonderful critique-ers. My leaves are semi-sheer and fused and I usually would just plop on some yarns and maybe some crystals, quilt the jeepers out of it and call it good! I think I want to aim at a little more sophistication this time, though. My first dilemna is that I can't even decide if I want it round or square!

I added a detail of the leaves, too, to show a little of the overlapping sheers and the little bit of sewing I have added already.

You have all done such inspiring work on this challenge...thanks for helping me to expand myself!

Not Quite Right!

I'm pretty sure this piece is far from the intent of this challenge, but it just wouldn't let me do it any differently! I really wanted to use triangle shapes, but only one would come out and play with me, so that's my title, Only One! It's about 18 X 20, and you can see that I am still mostly a quilter. No experiments with new fabrics or paint or burning anything...!

Challenge 49-Chiara..whatever!

Even if I can't pronounce chiaroscuro, it was great trying to come up with a project to fit. This one is fused and finished only with stitching--no extra surface design techniques. The photo shows a little lighter than it seemed as I was making it. The size is about 8 x 10, satin stitched edges and if it has to have a title it would be Forsythia 1.

I love critiques and suggestions, but this time I really would like to know if you think I actually did what the challenge asked.

Thanks,
