Bubba is a pure bred Old English Sheepdog. His mom is one of my dearest friends, and we've all watched over the past year as our 10 year old buddy has started to slow down and we know that his time with us is finite. He has survived lymphoma, a rambunctious younger brother, Travis, and a household that also includes some feline cousins. Bubba's eyes have always intrigued me, so I've tried to capture his wistful face.
The layers are fused applique, Fabrico marker, fabric paint, and stitching.... and this will be his mom's Christmas present this year....

Wonderful job Wendy. you've used the colros so well to create the shadows, he looks like a sweetie.
I'm just wondering if it would be better if his right eye had more definition? I almost missed it...just a thought.

Hi Wendy - I think you've done a wonderful job bringing Bubba to life in fabric. The close cropping does a great job of focussing the viewer in on his sweet face and eyes. Bravo on a job well done!
Nice job! He looks like he's giving you one of those looks like he's saying "I need a little of your attention right now." I love the way you used the strips of fabric to achieve the look of his shaggy coat of hair, too. Love the dog even though I haven't met him.
Definitely one cool shaggy dog! Very effective use of the strips, you blended the colors very well. I also like the way you captured the look in his eyes. Great Job Wendy!
Great idea. Love the shaggy fur. I was wondering what fusible you use. I have had a terrible time stitching through my steam-a-seam 2 stuff. I have a whole box, probably 40 yds that I inherited from my mom's stash. Hate to toss it but my thread just seems to shred?
Beautiful. I agree that his right eye (to the viewer) disappears a little, but the shading, the texture, and the love in this quilt are all wonderful.
Wendy, I love this shaggy dog, I have a "grandpuppy" that looks just like this wonderful art piece. You even have the pink of the eyes that is a sheepdog just right, I say it is perfect just how it is!. Jeanne
