Orange Cup Corals

My original plan didn’t work out so in order to save some of the work of the cup corals, I decided to make a snapshot view of them in a postcard format for my challenge. The orange cup corals are made with water soluble stabilizer and thread with glass blobs sewn into the center. I used Peltex™ instead of batting for a more rigid basis to accommodate the extra weight of the glass blobs. Label is in postcard format.

Lovely! I'm so glad your original plan didn't work out so you could do this improvised version. I like the way you did the thread work on the corals. What are the glass 'blobs'? Also, I've never heard of the water soluble fusible webbing. What brand, and if it's water soluble how do you git it to fuse?

oops...it's water soluble stabilizer. The glass blobs are found in the floral section and come in a variety of sizes and colors. They are used in vases to hold flowers. I first used them years ago for stained glass work.
I love this. Though it is a postcard, that looks like a lot of stitching. Interesting piece.
Inspiring work!
Very successful piece all round. The matt look of the stitched background sets off the highly textured corals. The floating 'tentacles' also give a lot of interest and movement. I like the postcard format as well. Great job!

I love the glass beads or what every they are called I also like how the coral comes off the piece.

Stunning piece - isn't it great how something so nice comes from something that didn't work at first? I like the effect of the background and falling off the edge of the postcard onto the black mat.
