....and then we cracked open the Tequila
Here is my quilt for challenge 53. I painted the fabric with setacolor paints prior to cutting each piece and fusing it down. The wine bottles are heavily thread painted. The shadow was made from black tulle and the background and shadows are stippled. I figured "Seven Empty Wine Bottles" as a boring title, so I named it "....and then we cracked open the Tequila", going for humor. Comments are welcome. Thanks for a fun challenge - making fabric look highly realistic is very difficult to do. It measures 18 1/2" x 23".

Veronica, I love the dimension you created on the bottles, and great quilting too! Chris Predd
Works great, glass is difficult to do in any medium.
I really like this piece! I definitely like the dimensionality created with the receding bottles.
Great job creating translucence! The stippling created the perfect background as well. Nice work

Very effective dimensionality. I like the composition and the different glass effects. I hope you drank the wine over several evenings!
You've done a great job with the texture on this piece. The quilting really is superb and it doesn't distract from the intent to make it trompe l'oeil... I have been mentally struggling with the concept of how do we quilt and not make it quilty...that is still keep it realistic and one that your eye is truly fooled into wanting to make your hands pick it off the background.
Nice job with the value and the composition. The clearness of the bottles also comes through a real coup! That's really hard to impart without it being too contrived and you've managed it.
What is the size, please?

Veronica,
Great job of taking a simple form and making an interesting and very pleasing composition! Your colors and values are spot on!

Veronica,
Wonderful job of making the glass three dimensional and translucent. Just the perfect amount of rounding on the quilting on the bottles.

Well done! Glass is so difficult. You really nailed it! Very 3-D.
What an incredible job.I lov the shading of the glass, beautiful colors. Not sure how big this is, I am very impressed with the quilting.
