Rhythm of Nature

This is only 11-1/2" x 8" but I worked on it constantly all week. For the last two trees I was wishing that I had used a different technique with every stitch.

The trees were thread painted and the leaves were hand embroidered using single chain stitches.

I'm going to be sending it to Ami Simms for her Alzheimer's auctions or sales.

I am sure that this was a tedious process, but well worth your effort! I like how the trees represent the four seasons and the differing colors. The background piece is interesting (looks like fractured branches) and sets the trees of well. Now you can put your feet up and enjoy the product of your endeavors!

You have great detail for such a small quilt. The result is worth the time and effort you spent. The auction is lucky to receive such a nice quilt.

It's always good to try a different technique for these challenges, and maybe you learn you don't want to do them again! The result looks effortless, though, and trees really do convey the seasons through the colours and shapes of your stitching.

I have become a real fan of thread painting, and this is a lovely piece. Using the tree as a simple icon, and carrying it through the four seasons is very effective! Even if you did find it tedious, it is definitely worth it. You have packed a lot into a compact space.
