Shamrocks

18" X 18"

Since I have done several Celtic pieces, I went with the Irish portion of the challenge using Notan/Expanding the Square, a Japanese design concept using positive and negative space. Background fabric is snow dyed and the dark is commercial.

Thanks Pam for the fun challenge. Comments appreciated.

I love your use of the positive/negative space. It is so simple yet so effective.

Pam, I've been looking at Notan as well.... great way to integrate the theme and the style. Love the echo quilting!

Pam, What an adorable idea - couldn't be more Irish! Reversing the green and white to create the positive and negative space really worked. The echo quilting is beautifully done and really makes the piece. Sandi Cannarella

I, too, love the positive/negative aspect of this piece. And the quilting is perfect to set it off.
