So I decided my series is going to be "Branching Out"
I've posted my piece Mossy Delight - I took the yellow-green/red-violet complementary color scheme. I pieced my signature background. Then added a vertical tree - I played around with the tree texture - in the past I've done primarily couched yarn this time I did more fabric pieced tree then added the yarn as an accent with thread work for the branches.
The finished size is 11 1/2 x 19 1/2.
I must admit - it's kind of psychedelic as a tree. Not what one would find in reality. But kind of working on the abstraction rather than a reality. It may be fun to try a few more of the compliments.

Lisa, this is so cool, I love your tree....a very funky piece.
Amazing how the complimentary colors 'work' even if it isn't as it would be in real life!
Well done,
Carole
I really like this Lisa. The tree stands out so well against the background, great color choices.
It would be so much fun to take a little nap under this tree and do a little creative dreaming...I love this piece.
Lisa, great job using complimenrary colors. I like that it is abstracted. Loofs like you will have a wnderful series in 'branching out"
I love it Lisa...The tree looks as if it might begin to dance at any moment :)
Your pieced background is so effective!

Those complementary colors are my favorites and they look wonderful in your tree. I like the pieced background.

Lisa, This is a really fun piece, and very striking and bold. I like the stiped background especially.
Hi Lisa - The color contrasts in this piece are so appealing. That yellow-green does have a mossy appearance and it just bounces off the background. I also like the abstract tree - it is obvious that it is a tree but it is stylized in a very attractive way. Congrats on a nice work.
What they all said. Great colors, piecing, applique - fantastic shape of the tree! I like this very much.
Lisa, what a great cheerful piece. I echo eveybody elses comments.
Well done
I like the variety of values you used and the contrast of the vertical and horizontal lines. The lime green couched around your tree helps it stand out. It even seems to glow or be lit from behind.
Hi Lisa, Did you know you were creating a fractal with your tree? One of the definitions of a fractal is self-similiarity on different scales. There is the shape of your tree, then that shape is repeated smaller in the branches, then repeated again in the twigs at the end of the branches. Makes for a unified, compelling piece. Fantastic job with the vertical and horizontal combination and the gorgeous complementary color combination.
I wouldn't change a thing.
Cynthia
Fun piece. Love the colors.
