Ch 34 - Devil's Tower

For Challenge 34 I chose Devil's Tower as it has a lot of texture. The tri-colors are yellow-orange, red-violet, and a touch of blue-green (vegetation). My husband's family homesteaded near this landmark many years ago, but my scene is even before that time, when there were still buffalo roaming. For texture in the buffalo I used trapunto, and needle-felting, as well as the quilting. This was a fun challenge. Thanks, LindaMac

Hi LindaMac, this really cool with those lively buffaloes and great color scheme. Lots of different textures with the fabrics and variety of quilting. I wouldn't change a thing except it's address (to mine).

Nice job, and lot's of texture. I love the movement you've achieved in this piece, it is really 'alive'.

I really love your Devils Tower! Did you needle-felt the bison? They look so realistic!

What a good job LindaMac.. love that felting. Did you felt and then cut out your shapes, or start with the general shape and go from there.
Definitely lots of movement... Run, buffalo, run. I grew up on the Plains and this reminds me of what I see in our museums back home.

Linda, this piece has a wonderful primitive native american feel to it! Your buffalo are fantastic, and I love the felting on them. With lots of movement, texture and an excellent use of color, this piece fulfills all the requirement for this challenge. Great job.

Thank you for all the nice comments. I needle felted the buffalo with just the batting on the back, before adding the backing (so the fiber wouldn't show on the back). Then added the backing and quilted it.
