You'll have to forgive me for this incomplete piece. I think that my brain has been fried. It's been over 100 degrees for the last 5 days and with no airconditioning; the nights have been so hot as well.I'm uncertain whether the colours are analagous; I'm using blue, purple and pink. As to whether it depicts any movement whatsoever, please tell me what you think.
It still needs to be bound and quilted but i'm leaving that for cooler times. At present all i seem capable of doing is lying around like a dead duck.

I definitely think there is movement in this piece. It's as if your figure is being drawn towards the purple sphere like she's a goddess asking for guidance from powers above. Well done!

I have forgotten what your series is, but see a definite on going theme of uplifting journeys. I love the colors and am captivated by the figure. My eyes travel round and round the circles, always resting on her. I wish I could see her closer up. Is she stitched, painted, stamped???

Cherie, the figure is a metallic goddess symbol which i've attached with thread; it stands about 3 inches tall. I'm doing 2 different series; I. Dreamscapes and 2. Abstracts; used to depict a feeling or emotion i have.
Carole, the figure represents the goddess symbol (i am not a pagan)
The goddess represents the 3 stages of woman; maiden; mother and crone. Ethical touchstones of the goddess are briefly; nurture life, walk in love and beauty; trust the knowlege that comes from the body; speak the truth; take only what you need; think about the consequences of your actions for future generations, practice great generosity....sorry, i didn't mean to go on and on.
How this all comes together in this quilt, i leave for your interpretation.

Hi Anna, This is gorgeous and I appreciate the symbolism. There is a real sense of harmony in the piece. I think it comes from the harmonious analogous color scheme of blue, blue-violet, purple and red-violet, as well as the rhymthm created by the concentric circles. The use of blackened, and grey colors with the touches of pure hue in the center circle and stitched circles makes such an effective piece and also captures the dreaminess of your Dreamscape theme.

Hi Anna - I find this very appealing. The muted colors work together so well. The goddess figure appears to be moving toward the center. The simple background is lovely. This has an aboriginal feel to it - are you in Australia? I note you said you were in the midst of a heat wave so I know you are not in the US where we are freezing!

This is a very striking piece. I love the way the concentric circles pull the figure towards it's center. The balance of the background adds alot to the piece as well. I can't explain it, but looking at this quilt just makes you feel good and at peace. Good Job!
I love this piece. The background really draws the eye, and the circles just set it off. The harmony is evident in the circles and the color choices. The inner circle has an earth-like mapping to the color in the fabric.... and I am a pagan so I love anything with the Great Mother on it! Well done!
Eye-catching piece. I can feel the figure being drawn to the orb. I wonder what would happen if you added a few more concentric ripples from large to small?
