Andromedra....

Inspired by an episode of Project Runway (there they took photos of NYC at night as the basis for their garments). Foundation pieced with 279 pieces in the arc alone. Bobbin quilted with metallic threads.
I actually did this for a local show (and got juried in from a national field), Night Visions III, now at the Coconino Center for the Arts (Flagstaff AZ).
Difficult to photograph but it shows beautifully!
Comments of course, welcome!

Before I read your comments, that eppisode of PR is exactly what I thought of! Very cool piece...I like the grays and the sense of movement. How on earth did you get that much pieceing done in such a short time?? :-)

Wendy, this piece definitely fits the challenge.

This is a great piece. Project Runway offers a lot of inspiration ideas - some wacky and some very doable as you've shown.

A really striking piece. I like the way you show only a portion of the tree ring.

I'd love to see this in person Wendy. Your use of fabrics is wonderful.

This is a great piece. I like the way you used lighter units towards the top.It looks like you are ascending from the depths into daylight again.

Hi Wendy - This is a work that just grabs me. Your use of color and value is outstanding. It is obvious you did a lot of work planning and executing this - it shows. Wish I could see it in person.

Hi Wendy, good example to show perspective and monochromatic composition. The glow and sparkle of this is really striking...no wonder it is in a national show, it's gorgeous!
