Series of Twos

9 X 14
Thank you, Betty, for introducing us to the technique and history of Color Fields. I enjoyed all your examples and those some of the members provided. This challenge has produced a great variety of quilts/techniques and I suspect a good learning experience for most, if not all of us. I’m not sure I met the challenge but I had a good time working with shapes and bright colors. Comments/Critiques are welcomed. Thanks, Pam

I love your twos. It really is nice to see how even numbers work in the composition. I'd like to see a little more quilting in the background and pieces.

The placement of the rectangles and circles is very pleasing nad nicely balanced. I like the contrast of colors. It makes this piece really pop. Pam Clark, Iowa

This is a great response to the challenge. The absence of more quilting keeps your eyes focused on the interior of the piece rather than wandering around the piece more. I suppose that is because you have kept it flat. Your idea of using 'two' is interesting and intriguing. Who knew it could work so well. Great idea, great job!

Great balance in this quilt, both in shape and in color. Very nice!

The simplicity of this piece speaks to me. I am also a person who works in uneven numbers, so the ease in which this piece comes together using the sequence of two is very refreshing. Your choice of colors is also nice. Some linear quilting might be nice, but that is just a personal opinion.

Pam
Lots of vibration between the blues and yellow. My eye also jumps between the rectangles and circles.
I like the way the green lines extend through the white borders.

Pam, I think you have a excellent balance of dynamic and static in this piece. It feels like there's movement, but it makes me calm at the same time (maybe the pairs of objects?). The piece also has nice balance. I agree that you could get away with more quilting in this piece--maybe a few horizontal & vertical lines across the large color blocks? but all in all it's very nice!
