Second attempt at leaves

Here is a second attempt at fusing real oak leaves onto quilted fabric. Now I'm out of oak leaves... This shows more movement, I think, but I can't decide whether I'm looking up at the sky, which I intended, or down into water. The blue hand-dye is by Robbi Joy Eklow.

I see the leaves swirling down into the water. I like it a lot.

Yes, looks like leaves on an 'eddying' waterway.

I like this one way more than the first attempt. I think the quilting lines add much more movement than the other one. Also the blue background compliments the oak leaves quite well.

Hi Katie, both your pieces are very well done...I like that you pursued the idea with second piece because it turned out wonderfully. I like the placement of the leaves and contrast of color and value best in the second piece. And the quilting lines do much to show the movement. Very successful piece...congrats!

This piece is much better than the first. I think partly because of the brighter background making the leaves stand out. Whether it's water they're swirling on or just a beautiful blue fall day you've achieved great movement with the leaves and your quilting.

I do so like the colours in your original piece... i find them very appealing.

Katie,
I see these leaves swirling in a little whirlpool of water. The quilting on this piece really show the swirling motion better than the first one.
