Jibber Jabber
9" x 9"
The image is based on a jester's mask and refers to the playful use of words in the poem.

Hi Penny,
Your fun-loving nature is showing! Thanks for mixing up the pot…some of us went to over to the dark side on this one. It’s a cheerful, fun piece, but it is so symmetrical (both the interior elements and the square size of the quilt) that it doesn’t grab your interest. I took your photo into Photoshop and cropped it asymmetrically several different ways and I like it very much. It would cut it down to postcard size, but I think it is more interesting and shows off the fabrics better and the wonderful couched fibers become more of the focus. The complementary colors of violet and yellow/green are really good.

Hi Penny - It looks like you had a good time putting this piece together. I like the yin/yang balance you've got going. I like your fabrics and colors but I don't quite feel that there is a focal point that my eye wants to return to. I see the jester's mask that you were making but somehow I feel it needs something more. The yarns move my eye around a bit but there's not a central theme/object/color drawing my eye back into it.
Cynthia's suggestion for some judicious cropping would probably do the trick.
I look forward to seeing more.

I like the bright cheery colors and the fun yarn you chose.
Perhaps you could add some new elements to make a more assymetrical composition and also to define a focal point.
