Shadows

The first line in James Reese horror book the book of shadows is: I vividly remember my mothers blood. I was hooked after reading that line and read all 468 pages in one weekend. would love critique. No, it is not embellished. Didnt need it, or at least it didnt ask for any.

Hi Tina,
Tell me about the background on this piece...it's fascinating and spooky. I love the color and contrast on this piece. It's vivid and dramatic and I think it's wonderful as it is.

Hi Tina - I found this piece rather foreboding before I even read your first line. Your fabric interpretation of the line is quite striking. To me the background looks like tree bark - how do you see it?

The background is a tree bark pattern - its a commercial print, and i quilted it to enhance the line and shadows of the tree. I did want it to have a dark feeling to it, wanted it to portray the blood dripping - but I wanted to show that as the leaves falling and dying from a tree in the forest... I always do flowers and happy things with bright colors... something told me I had to go dark with this challenge. Maybe its all the problems i have been having recently -but I really do like this piece myself. Thank you for your thoughts and kind words!
