2. Explain what the piece communicates to you.
3. Give a 'what if' statement(What if you had used blue instead of red?)

Like it and the colors you used. He seems more British than African to me, but great whatever nationality!
Cool. I like it.
I love ethnic prints such as this. I really like the way you took a traditional batik and made it more modern with the border design.
Really interesting border treatment and colors. Love this.
Considering the composition is dead center the borders really work fantastic for this quilt.
The borders make this lion king look like a tapestry. They add so much interest to the piece. Every time I look at it I see something new. Love the colors as well...

Hi Joni - Your use of a variety of fabrics/textures in this piece is so enjoyable. And the "borders" are an integral part of the quilt - not just an expected add on. I particularly like those sharp pointy pieces coming out of the border on the right. The points combined with the swirling background fabric add lots of life. Good stuff!
Hi Joni, I wouldn't change a thing on your regal lion. It has a traditional tapestry feel, but is more graphic with the high contrast of the colors and more modern with the curvy shapes and animal prints. Great job!

Great border. It really adds to the piece.
I love the detail in the border. It adds to the regalness of the piece. I think that is not a word!
Very kingly! I like your border treatments - just enough to add a wonky (is that a word?) feel which makes it delightful.
