Z

9.5” X 14”

I only had today to work on this challenge so needed something small and more simplistic. Enjoyed the challenge of the reverse appliqué and definitely need more practice with my satin stitching. I was getting the “hang of it” by the time I finished!!

I used a cropped photo of a zebra, sized it and printed out. This is a mirror image of the original.

I will hang it 90 degrees clockwise but this view is more realistic for a zebra.

Thanks Cynthia for the challenge and comments are welcome and appreciated.

I really like the use of color and negative space with this piece. The red border is quite effective! Good job!

Really like your fabric choices and how the small border print mirrors the center motif. Reminds me of a zebra rug. Great job!

A wonderful little piece! This will surely catch a viewer's eye anywhere you place it.

It looks like we were thinking in parallel -- or should I say, along the same lines!

To my eye, the pieces that create a closeup focus like this one are so appealing. The touch of red is perfect!

Another view of a zebra - very unique. I like the play of the large and small stripes. That bit of red makes everything pop just right.

Love the graphic quality of this. It reads zebra without seeing a zebra. The change of scale in the pattern and the repetition of the lines is very effective.

I agree with all the above, but I wonder, why will you rotate it to hang It? It looks so obviously 'zebraish' the way it is...LOL

Love this one. The red border is a real zinger, and your choice of outer border fits so well. Such an interesting piece.

I love the use of repetition as a design element. The suggestion of the zebra is very cool.

A lot of fun - I do like the zebra and the border the mimics the zebra print.

Hi Pam - You nailed this in every way - variety of scale, crisp color contrast, interesting use of cropping. I think it is excellent in every way.

You have captured the essence of the zebra wonderfully. I'm turning my head 90 degrees, but I really like the way it is presented here. Good work.
