This had to do double duty. I found out about HIA's challenge at the same time as the FFFC and it was due today so I combined them.
Their rules were: Use their embroidery design and make a sewing caddy.
I used a picture of my cats watching the squirrels to make my design and then I thread painted it. The eye was reverse applique and for the dimension I used three layers of batting under her hips and hand appliqued it onto the background..

Interesting piece - I like that it functional. I like the blue and orange as complementary colors. I'd only suggest more quilting in the sky and rug.
What a neat idea to make something useful and portable from your art!
Lovely butterflies

Hi Betty - I love your little striped kitty. She looks like she'd like to go out and play with the butterflies. I think a bit of quilting in the window panes would be a nice addition but that may not work now that the piece has become a sewing caddy.
Hi Betty...it's good to see your work again! The posture of the cat is very expressive...it's what my cats do when there's something interesting outside the window. I think your techniques for adding dimension would show up more with more background quilting.
Good job
Cynthia
